Sustainability

Our goal: to minimise our impact on the environment and the climate.

More by using less: sustainability at js-soft

Less CO₂, less waste, fewer IT resources. We understand sustainability as a concept at all levels and have launched a process that is steadily transforming us into a climate-friendly, socially committed, health-promoting and environmentally responsible company.
However, we do not only act in an increasingly environmentally friendly way. We also advise our customers sustainably and design every software architecture with future-proof scalability in mind.

js-soft in the project „Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften“

To establish a systematic approach to our efforts, we took part in the “Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften” project in Heidelberg and had our processes thoroughly reviewed.

Our office in Heidelberg is located in a building with passive house standards, and the office in Magdeburg is also located in a modern, energy-efficient office complex. We use green electricity, separate waste and offer fair-trade organic beverages. We host our web applications with a CO₂-neutral provider and use an integrated water purification system with or without sparkling water.

More about us and sustainable business practices

As part of the “Nachhaltiges Wirtschaften” project, we had our operations thoroughly reviewed. Here is a report outlining the insights we gained and our plans for the future to do even more for the climate and the environment.

We can further improve with our sustainable mobility concept: we avoid business travel wherever possible. New company cars should be electric vehicles, which is already being well received. To ensure that everyone in the team can commute to us with low CO₂ emissions, our offices are conveniently located close to public transport. We also subsidise a job ticket (Deutschlandticket) and/or a bicycle for our employees. In addition, we support the most ecological commute of all: none at all. At js-soft, working from home has been possible long before Covid and has remained so ever since.

Another declared goal for the near future is to anchor the idea of sustainability more firmly within our team. There is an internal blog where colleagues share tips ranging from a vegan mozzarella recipe to the smart management of a home PV system. We also have an internal ideas board and regularly take part together in initiatives organised by BUND or NABU. Our next goals are ISO 14001 certification for sustainable environmental management and, in the medium term, the transition to a completely climate-neutral company.

Our Environmental Guidelines

To set our own compass, we have created guidelines that help us consistently pursue our goals.

Acting sustainably out of conviction

Our goal at j&s-soft is to act in an environmentally friendly and climate-conscious manner throughout our company together with the entire team. For us, this is about the environment, the climate and therefore about future generations who should not have to pay for our success. We have the knowledge and the means to achieve this goal.

Going beyond standards

We are committed to complying with applicable environmental guidelines and legal regulations. This also includes the annual update of our greenhouse gas balance. But we want to do more: through internal analyses, feedback within the team and advice from experts, we aim to act in ways that protect the environment and the climate. This applies to our building, energy management and the handling of hardware, as well as to everyday office life.

Implementing knowledge quickly

Our goal at j&s-soft is to act in an environmentally friendly and climate-conscious manner throughout our company together with the entire team. For us, this is about the environment, the climate and therefore about future generations who should not have to pay for our success. We have the knowledge and the means to achieve this goal.

Optimising internal processes

There is significant potential for conserving resources in the way we design our processes. We are continuously improving. In particular, we commit ourselves to implementing a continuous improvement process in the spirit of environmental protection and sustainability.

Our Sustainability Code of Conduct

With our Sustainability Code of Conduct, we have created a guide that sets out our position on individual aspects of sustainability and also provides concrete recommendations for action.
